Brockton Public Schools:
So far, all the reports from inside BHS say there’s been a major improvement. Many of the issues that the high school struggled with last year – including violence, teacher absenteeism and students sneaking out of school – have also decreased.
Eliot K-8 Innovation School:
“When you have a cellphone in your pocket, the urge is there,” said Traci Walker Griffith, the Eliot School’s executive director. “This way, even during an emergency, teachers can unlock them once they get to a safe space.”
Salem High School:
Teachers at Salem High welcome the policy, saying it's helped improve concentration.
"Trying to compete with technology and everything that comes with a cellphone was really hard, and now I feel like I'm just not competing with that," said English Language Arts teacher Abby Sherwood. Students are "...more focused, and the change has been pretty incredible."
